The Mass Extinction of Life at end of Cretaceous Period

Was due to the Hot House Effect

CO2 levels reached 4000 PPM

Causing a surface and ocean temperature that most life could not live in

This is what killed the dinosaurs and 65% of animal and sea life

It was not an asteroid

It was a global Hot House Effect caused by 4000 ppm CO2 Levels

There was no mass extinction event at end of the Triassic Period

There was a rapid change in evolution and over many millions of years

Up to 90% of life forms evolved or died off

The CO2 Level in this period was only 900 ppm

900 ppm CO2 levels fueled plant growth

Abundant plants and trees caused high Oxygen Levels

Higher Oxygen Levels and abundant plant food fueled size growth of surface animals

The breakup of Pangaea and the formation of continents

Trapped all species into smaller continental zones

This nudged evolution to quickly develop new species

The new species became dominate and most older species died

While the Cretaceous Period did see an abrupt end to a large percentage of life (65%)

The end of 90% of species during the so-called Triassic – Jurassic extinction

Took many millions of years and was a defacto proof of evolution and not mass extinction

A true ELE (Extinction Level Event) does not take millions of years

That is an evolutionary change

Surface animals could not migrate to new habitats easily when the continents formed

Survival of the fittest kicked in and weaker species died off

This took many millions of years

The true Hot House Effect causing mass extinction is clearly seen in the fossil record

It happened only at the end of the Cretaceous Period

When 65% of life on land and seas quickly became extinct

4000 ppm created a temperature on earth on the surface and in oceans

Where all life vanished that could not burrow into the earth on the surface

Or could not exist in warmer ocean temperatures

Aquatic life that could reach deeper ocean levels survived

Near surface aquatic life able to live in warmer ocean waters survived

The difference between these events is the Triassic Jurassic Event spanned many millions of years

The late Cretaceous Extinction was in geological terms almost instant

To classify the vast evolutionary changes of the Triassic period as extinction is wrong

Evolution accelerated due to formation of continents and higher CO2 levels

Evolution takes millions of years

Extinction Level Events are fast
